News and documentaries

Here you will find updates from FONTANA-EOD alongside selected news reports and documentaries about ordnance. You can watch features from SR, ARD Wissen, Terra X History and SWR Aktuell on their respective publishers' sites.

Our company updates describe our current plans. The selected media features add historical background and technical information. An assessment of a particular property still depends on the records and conditions of the specific construction project.

Context

What a media report tells you about your project

A report can explain a find, its consequences or its historical context. It does not establish whether another site needs investigating or which method would be suitable there. That depends on the project's location, planned ground disturbances and existing findings.

To prepare, read our information on Construction projects and suspected ordnance. The historical background is explained on the page Bombing campaigns and unexploded bombs.

The date and publisher identify each feature. References to closures or traffic disruption at the time are historical reports, rather than current traffic information. Features open on the publishers' sites.

Ordnance find

Keep your distance from a suspicious object

If you suspect an ordnance find, stop work in the affected area immediately. Do not touch or move the object. Leave the danger area, keep your distance and keep others away. Notify the police on 110.

The Immediate action after a find guide summarises what to do. Official guidance is also available from the Saxony-Anhalt Police. A film or project enquiry does not replace reporting a find.

Project enquiry

Have your project assessed

Whether historical aerial photograph analysis, explosive ordnance surveying, surface surveying using GPR, magnetometry or TDEM, deep-ground surveys, downhole surveys, excavation supervision, area clearance or ordnance recovery is needed depends on the location, ground disturbance, depth, ground and existing documents. An early ordnance assessment provides clarity for tendering, programming, occupational safety and construction.

FONTANA-EOD combines its Section 7 SprengG licence, specialists holding Section 20 SprengG certificates of competence, suitable survey and clearance methods, and traceable documentation. Send the site plan, depth of ground disturbance, construction phase and existing documents for an initial technical assessment.
